Library Guide
To Prevent Late Returns of Library Materials
If the materials you checked out remain overdue, you will not be able to borrow other books from the library.
In addition, as a penalty, your loan privilege will be suspended for the number of days that the materials are overdue, starting from the date when you return the overdue materials
Most cases of overdue materials result from simply forgetting to return the material, or being unaware of having incorrectly operated the self-check machine.
The TUT Library offers the following services to prevent late returns or the loss of borrowed materials. Failure to return materials on time will result in the suspension of the loan privilege of offenders. Moreover, it will prevent other users from using library materials. Therefore, we would appreciate your cooperation to avoid returning materials late.
Preventive Measures for Users to Return Materials On Time
Check and keep a [receipt] | Confirm if the material is properly processed by your [receipt], which you receive when checking out, checking in or renewing materials using the self-check machine. Keep the receipt until you return the material. |
Check details of borrowed materials on the website | Log in to My Library from TUT's Library website or from the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and perform Status Confirm in My Library. |
Renew borrowed materials | If you wish to continue to borrow a material with an upcoming return date, extend (renew) the due date before the return date. (This service is available only to students and officials of TUT.) |
TUT Library's Reminder Service
- The library sends out a reminder notice by email to email subscribers every few days starting from the 2nd day after the due date until the overdue material is returned. The penalty period will be shorter if you return the material immediately after receiving a reminder notice because the notice is sent out soon after the due date.
- The library sends out a reminder in writing (by campus mail or postal mail) or by phone around two weeks after the due date.
Returning of Library Materials by Students Expected to Graduate or Complete their Program
The return date at the end of academic year for seniors (fourth-year undergraduate students), second-year master students and third-year doctoral students is no later than March 10. Pay attention to the return date when borrowing library materials. Note that students who are expected to advance to a higher-level program within TUT cannot borrow books from the library until a new Student ID has been issued after enrollment.
