TUT opens its library to those outside TUT engaging in education/research as well as to the public.

Library Use Procedures
Using Multiplaza Only
Multiplaza is available for anyone excluding some areas/rooms exclusively for students and official staffs of TUT.
Reading Materials on the Second and the Third Floors Only
The second and third floors of the library are available for anyone excluding some areas/rooms exclusively for students and official staffs of TUT. Fill in the Library Visitors Register" at the counter.
(However, if you wish to continue using the library, you will need to complete the renewal procedure the first time you visit the library in that year. Please see [Renewing a Library Pass] below.)
* You are not permitted to enter the library unless your purpose is to read the material housed in the library.
Checking Out Materials on the Second and Third Floors
A "Library Pass" is required.
To prepare your application form before visiting the library, print out this /
To use the library in the next year as well, present your "Library Pass"
and a form of identification at the counter for a renewal application.
You do not need to submit the "TUT Library Use Application" for
renewal applications.

* External users cannot extend the loan period.
Please note that your loan service privilege will be suspended for a set period of time as a penalty if you have any overdue items.
- Books for reference only, papers, magazines, journals, newspapers
- DVDs without copyright processing
- Materials housed at the offices/laboratories
* You may borrow a DVD player to view DVDs that cannot be checked out inside the library. Please make an application at the counter.
Entering the Library
If you have a "ibrary Pass", you can go through the entrance gate automatically with your pass (without making an application at the counter upon your arrival).
If you do not have your "Library Pass" with you, please come to the counter to apply for entry and you will be able to enter the library with a library pass for external users.
Opening Hours for External Users
External users can use the library only during Regular Opening hours. Refer to the Opening Calendar before visiting the library.
Collection Search
You can search resources housed in TUT over the Internet even when you are outside the campus.OPAC (holding search) terminals are not installed on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so we recommend that you search in advance before visiting.
In the library, please search using your own PC or smartphone etc. If you do not have one of these devices, please inquire at the counter on the 1st floor.
On the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC),
Select the "OPAC" tab to start a search.
Input all or part of the search conditions, such as title, publisher or subject, and then click on Search.
The title/titles meeting the search conditions will be displayed. Click on the title and you will find detailed information.
If an expected date of return is displayed in the Status column, the material is on loan.
If "Laboratory" is displayed in the Location column, you cannot either borrow or read the material since it is managed by individual faculty members and not housed in the library
There are no internet terminals that can be used by people outside the university.
E-journals, e-books, and databases cannot be used.
Magazines and journals are not available for circulation.
To read back issues of magazines or journals, please contact the Information Service Section in advance.
(Some materials are housed in Separate Archives and may not be readily available. Foreign journals published before 1987 and domestic journals published before 1985 are stored in the Separate Archives.)
